WORKSHOP TO RAISE PARLIAMENTARIANS AWARENESS ON IMPACTS OF LEAD PAINTS ON THE HEALTH OF POPULATION AND THE NEED FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF A NATIONAL LEGAL FRAMEWORK - Yaoundé November 20, 2015

 


This workshop that was organized in the premises of the National Assembly on 20th November 2016 had four (04) objectives:

- Raise awareness and inform the honorable parlamenterians on the dangers of lead paint

- Present the results of studies on lead paints in Cameroon since 2010 for better information for decision making;

- Present the harmful effects of exposure to lead paints on health and training effects on society and development

- And finally present the emergency of a national legal framework

The workshop was animated by Dr. Gilbert Kuepouo Coordinator and Mr. Hamani Anatole Head programs in CREPD before an audience of more than a dozen honorable members of the National Assembly. They expressed their amazement at the gravity of the evil represented by the lead paints and qualified it more serious and severe problem than that posed by "Boko Haram" in reference to the terrorist group raging in the northern part of the country. MEPs recommended that a draft law on health protection against lead been rapidly presented by the Government for adoption.
